If you purchased your domain from a registrar like GoDaddy, Hostinger, or Namecheap, but want to host your website elsewhere, you need to connect them. This process is called Updating Nameservers (DNS).
Official ServerLy Nameservers:
If you are hosting with us, use the following details:
- Nameserver 1: ns1.serverly.in
- Nameserver 2: ns2.serverly.in
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Login to your Domain Registrar: Open the website where you originally bought your domain (e.g., GoDaddy) and log into your account dashboard.
- Locate DNS Management: Go to your domain portfolio or products list. Look for a button that says "Manage DNS", "Nameservers", or "DNS Settings".
- Switch to Custom Nameservers: By default, your domain uses the registrar's default nameservers. Click on "Change" and select "Custom Nameservers".
- Enter the New Nameservers: Carefully copy and paste your hosting provider's nameservers (like
ns1.serverly.inandns2.serverly.in) into the provided text boxes. - Save Changes: Click on the Save or Update button. You might be asked to verify this change via email or a popup warning. Accept it.
⏱️ Important: What is DNS Propagation?
Once you save the new nameservers, your website will not start working instantly. The global internet network takes time to update your new server address across all ISPs worldwide. This process is called DNS Propagation and it typically takes anywhere from 2 to 24 hours. Please be patient during this period.
